This group shredding occurred because in model-year Ski-Doo rolled out the lightest mountain snowmobile known to this industry and mountain riders purchased it in abundance. The pound dry-weight XP Summit and Everest are the most often purchased sleds in the West and ones that stir much debate.
Debate causes buyers to investigate and seek answers for themselves. For Ski-Doo, controversy leads to product sales. Ski-Doo believes mountain riders are a notable consumer. From our experience, the Snowmobile. For the past two years our three-man test crew has knocked down many mountains on an XP Summit.
In addition, the inch wide track carries the lightest of mountain sleds to heights that could make a billy goat puke. Problem solved by calling on the laws of physics.

Debate solved. Well, uh, not so quick. It also retains the sway bars and the inch track that stretches inches.
Let me explain. Say what? Likewise on the steeps, the X-RS showed a nimble and agile personality — the hillclimber proved to have a light feel through the bars. The inch PowderMax track worked very well, giving this X-RS the traction it needed to rocket up the steep western slopes. With more pressure on the center shock, boondocking becomes easier. By increasing leverage, a correlating affect occurs, rider effort to roll the Summit into a hill decreases.
A inch wide PowderMax track that stretches to inches is the only track length available on the XR-S; this is the same track available on the Everest and Summit X. The X-RS shares most of the same components as the Summit X, which follows this briefing, but has some key upgrades exclusive for hillclimb competition.
The X and Everest come in three tread lengths, or Its torque-wicked R motor, killer looks, wide deep-lug track, and lightweight chassis pulled new owners into Ski-Doo showrooms. The sled hauls booty up a hill, flies through the powder and is not afraid of taking a hit when dropped off a cornice.
Down the trail, for both models, the SC-5M rear skid is a control freak; it holds a line and remains smart and confident when the moguls are whale sized.
To present a more aggressive sidehilling Summit some significant changes were made for model year For increased weight transfer, sidehilling ease and boondocking, riders can lengthen the limiter strap beyond that which was previously offered; for those who prefer the MY setup, they will be able to have the exact same setup.
When we play on an Summit or Everest, we let the motor wake us up and allow the power-to-weight ratio of three pounds per horsepower to carry us away. It is a bruiser and a big chute killer.
An area where the XP Summits shine is in amped-up speed bump bashing. The X-package equipped Summit X and premium X-RS are the mountain sleds to have when racing to the mountain or back to the truck. It provides smooth and easy transition from sitting to standing.Say i didnt buy the tmotion and s36 kit. How would it be for sidehilling then? Would you pretty much have to man handle it to get it to stay on its side?
Where in MI are you? I have an 09 Hillclimb edition with the S on it. I love this sled. I have taken it out west twice and have had no problems at all out there and only been on about 40 miles of trail total since I've had it new.
Like This Unlike summit06 13 Mar I really like the skidoo summit x r and was told to stay away from the 08 summits. What i wanna know is, does the feel weird and awkward like the ? Ive never rode either but thats what i was told.
That the 08 cant sidehill. But what about the ? How does that do for technical tree riding? Easy or kinda a hassle?
And if i were to put the s36 and tmotion on it, how much would that help? Like This Unlike seanc 13 Mar Best advice is to go ride. But don't let people. My 09 does great but this summer I am doing s36 and rear suspension with motion moving the steering post and xm spindles and skis cause I want to improve it. Like This Unlike summit06 13 Mar Yeah i didnt figure they could be as bad as people were saying.
Ive stood on some in are local shop before and they felt fine to me. But i guess riding one would be totally different. None of the people i ride with have one so i dont have the chance to test ride them. I want one since im gonna buy a different sled next year but i cant make up my mind on what i want. I think the 09 and 10 look pretty sick.Forum Rules.

My story: I have a that's right, a 2 year old snowmobile Skidoo freeridethe second most expensive sled they built that year. I have 2, miles on the sled. I do not beat my machines and I maintain them well.
I have had nothing but problems with this sled. It's spent more time in the dealership's garage than on the trail. I'll start off by saying this sled would be impossible to ride without the 2 year warranty.
It has never run right. In the first season, they thought they fixed it by replacing one fuel injector and reflashing the computer. Still didn't run right. The second season saw them replacing the other fuel injector at first, then the exhaust temperature sensor.
While they were doing that, they noticed that the computer was not working correctly, so they replaced that. You can admire the handsome graphics, the pure white engine cowling, raw aluminum chassis with cheese grater runningboards and Ski-Doo yellow A-arms, but get over yourself if you think the Ski-Doo MXZ X-RS is for every rider. Unless you are buying this latest race-bred MXZ as a collector or are a serious and accomplished ditch-banger, save your money, your body and your ego and opt for a similarly spiffy but more every day rideable MXZ X.
It will quickly separate the faux experts from the real ones in your riding group. It is purposely built that way. We know personally that we are years beyond the target group for this sled, but we can still appreciate what Ski-Doo engineers and marketers are offering. The sled is designed for the serious wannabe who wraps his ego into his sled. This is to snowmobiles as the Suzuki Hayabusa is to motorcycles. It is all about performance. Making it a maximum performance sled is the option of a horsepower cc PowerTEK twin to seal the deal, but the updated cc E-TEC will do for starters.
It is the same displacement used in stock snocross machines. The power is ample. It is the same platform used on the MX Zx racing version. That means it comes standard with the wide footboards that have been braced with the extruded edge. The handlebar and steering post positioning is purposefully set forward to make upright running natural as you enter a bump-pitted ditch run.
The Quebec-based snowmobile engineers feel having the steering post forward better serves a stand-up riding position. The competition feels mounting the steering back is better. Expert powder riders tell us that both work, but that the forward post makes holding a sled into the hillside for side hilling is not as easy as having the steering back a little further.
But, they say the forward post makes for more maneuverability on various mountain trails.
Ski doo 800HO No Spark
For powder riding, there are trade-offs, for ditch pounding the ability to stand and read rough terrain works and is what you want. Note that the X-RS front A-arms are of a lightweight design with the lower arm of chromoly construction.
The wishbone front end also borrows race-tested calibrations to keep the front end more stable when diving into a turn or under serious braking from the hydraulic Brembo disc system, which even uses a competition-style steel-braided brake line. The SC-5 rear suspension owes its design to years of snocross competition and includes the use of four rear idler wheels and reinforcement of the rails.
There are KYB Pro 40 shocks on both suspension arms to control inches of maximum travel. The SC-5 allows free spinning of a inch RipSaw track. The lightweight track measures inches in width and features a 1. Fitting the sled to big bump riding is a race-style Rev-XP X narrow seat design. While light in weight, the seat actually measures 1. While this model is all about high-speed performance, it does have amenities. Well, ego, of course. You are, after all, a serious performance rider.
And you know you can handle the ditches better and faster. Racer inspiration is more than decal-deep on the X-RS. Why would you choose one engine over the other? You power-lovers have only one real option, the hp cc PowerTEK.Forums New posts Search forums. Media New media New comments Search media. Search Everywhere Threads This forum This thread. Kill Switch? Dielectric Grease is your Friend!!! Good Luck!! Napa Matt. Nov 26, 5, 83 Palmer, Alaska. On the dess, not all the time. If the post is not registering a key on it you will not get spark. I would say it more likely you don't have something hooked up right or you have a bad connection. Did you check the connection from the trigger coil cps to the Mpem?FIX SKI-DOO INJECTOR OIL CAP LEAK ON YOUR BOOT!
Are you sure it is plugged all the way in? Make sure you didn't push a pin out of one of the connectors at the mpem. One of the pins on your sled might be pushed in the connector making a bad connection and that is why the mpem works on your dads sled but not yours. Kill switch is a grounding switch, just disconnect it.Forum Rules. Remember Me? Re: plumit r problems no warranty? Re: plumit r problems bought sled in usa, take it south of border and get the warranty to fi should be good till dec ofsomeone did not check the grease. Re: plumit r problems hopefully it won't but if you need to replace it it would. That being said. Yes i know the difference is the engines trust me i have been in this trade for 15 years and i have seen alot of failures in boats, snowmobiles, motorcycles, atv's BRP has a problem that they have been masking for years.
I guess i'm just one more sucker that thought they fixed things in the last couple. Re: plumit r problems. Originally Posted by Warhawk. Originally Posted by imdoo'n. Re: plumit r problems This guy knows what he is talking about - trust me. I would send an engine to him to have it rebuilt.
Who puts grease inside a motor with no option to re-grease or inspect without tearing the whole motor down? Designed to be serviced by BRP - as stated, that's the best way to make money Good for about miles - on an average rider sled that is just about the time the warranty runs out Pretty sad. Warhawk, now that the cases are apart, I would drill and tap a grease fittings in there somewhere to lube the bearings on both ends of the crank.
Take the outer seals out of the bearings and then you can lube right from the ends of the case. Couple shots every now and then should do it.Forums New posts Search forums. Media New media New comments Search media. Search Everywhere Threads This forum This thread.
