When I increase the boost by modifying map at 0x car drives OK for few minutes with the higher boost level and then goes to limp home mode with the following error codes: P Boost pressure P Boost pressure standard deviation 1 What do I need to change to prevent this happening?
My ori file is attached. When tuning a Smart is it typically necessary to change other boost related things than the boost map? I have a bought tune from one of the users here and it doesn't change anything else boost related. I can't rule out possibility of a mechanical fault causing the codes at this point. I tried changing just four cells in the boost map from bottom right corner of the map.
Still after 5 minutes error codes appear no matter if I drive well below the RPM columns that I have changed. So it seems that I don't even need to hit the changed cells. Is there something doing background check of the boost map to detect changes? Put the four cells back to stock and no more codes Reputation: 0. Hi, i have the same problem. P even when i let the car run on idle without pressing gas pedal. Wich software are you using for modding? Hi, Using Winols and correcting checksums with Ultimo.
ECU Flashing with old Galletto cable. Do you have the same software version? The standard Smart Roadster has an electrically folding fabric roof and a fixed roll bar with glass rear window. The 80 horsepower turbocharged three-cylinder engine, a welcome upgrade to the 60 hp unit fitted to early cars is light and responsive.
With the engine mounted just in front of the rear wheels there is little space left for luggage although there is a second storage compartment at the front. There were several limited edition versions of the Roadster as well as the Smart Roadster-Coupe with an alternative hatchback style rear end. The Smart Roadster went to an early grave at the end ofproduction of the car was stopped due to low sales figures and high numbers of warranty claims usually water damage to the CPU making the practicality of building this car unviable.
Priced well and cheap to run the Smart is a back-to-basics convertible that is easy to live with. It is not fast on paper but is a hoot to drive due to its light weight, good balance and low centre of gravity. It has cute looks but is still sporty enough to appeal to male drivers. The Smart Roadster is also a lot cheaper than just about any other car providing this much fun.
Finally, it has a small and efficient engine which keeps running costs low and is more kindly to the environment than most. We were sad to see it go Despite its reputation for leaks.
Brabus is better known for making monstrously powerful versions of Mercedes road cars however their tuned Smart cars have probably sold in greater numbers. The Smart Roadster BRABUS uses engine tuning to boost the engine power considerably giving sprightly performance although what makes this car special is really the handling.
Sports suspension and a quicker acting gearbox make it feel like a go-kart to drive. Inside the cabin is spacious for two with ample leg room and plenty of head room for most drivers. There are also heated leather seats, air conditioning and a leather trimmed dashboard as standard along with a host of other details. It still doesn't have that luxury car feel, in fact the driving experience is closer to that of a Lotus. Information last updated 19th August Do you drive a Smart Roadster?

So I need as much info as poss on Performance upgrades, Is there any companies out there that can modify the smart BUT doesn't effect the cars warranty etc? Whats Mods should I be looking for and whats the cost implications of the above? Add me to your msn and reply as I'm keen to rather info before I purchase!

Looking buying a Brand new Brabus Coupe but TBH I'm used to a car that accelerates to sixty in just over 7 secs, is this unachievable to get this performance out of the Brabus???
I was talkin to a guy the Motor show on the Smart Stand and he mentioned a engine upgrade taking to bhp for pounds by a company called Smart Wise, is this correct??? I thought the Brabus was bhp to start with??? Has No1 experince of the bhp SmartRus Z car conversion? What could Digitec offer me??? All I can say is take the Brabus for a test drive, and you will not look back!
Yes it feels fast-ish but I want more performance. Edited by - vermaak on 09 Jun Don't contemplate a Smart if you want a performance car!
Smarts are for fun! All i can add at this point is go test drive one then make your own mind up. A Brabus roadster coupe has BHP and 96lbft of torque.sobre rodas pt: smart roadster "brabus" coupe
The times of all smarts are not great as its got a six speed gear box with relatively slower change times then possible with a normal gearbox. So the roadster should still feel quick quick. It is possible to increase the BHP slightly but it will void your warrenty as it would with your current So if you want a quick car then buy yourself a scooby or Evo.
The Roadster is great fun, its fast enough for me traveling to and from work and the bulk of my driving but if I want to go fast then I get out my XR4x4 sierra with BHP and four wheel drive.
My girlfriend also owns a pug XSI which does handle very well like my roadster but the roadster is quicker is most situations. The roadster does not suit every one.
Why do you want to change from your current car?Puretuning is a specialist in Chiptuning petrol and diesel engines for a better performance and more fuel efficiency. Don't waste money, do your homework and follow our unbiased guides to each performance upgrade to avoid disappointment. Many Roadster owners uprate the handling of their cars with fast road suspension mods as a priority, this will certainly increase your enjoyment of the car.
Good suspension tweaks that radically benefit handling for the Roadster include a couple of degrees negative camber and Toe in for stability, or Toe out to improve cornering. It would also pay to improve the brakes, by adding larger discs and or higher friction pads.
We would go to a maximum drop of 27mm - 37 mm. You risk rubbing on the arches if you go lower than this. The best power gains come from larger engine sizes.
The more you start with the bigger the return on investment so engine swaps are good value mods for small engined cars. Typically these parts are usually installed by our members, decide how far you want to push your car before you begin.
Getting the right tuning mods for your planned usage of the car is essential. Stage 3 motor sport parts just don't work well on the road making the car difficult to drive. Peak power is all well and good but for a drivable and fun car you need a wide torque band and perhaps extending the rev range.
In this article we shall give an overview and introduction to the best upgrades for your car, but we'd encourage you to spend some time on the site looking into the details of each type of performance modification. Fast road cams offer one of the biggest power gains for your money as far as a bolt on motorsport modifications goes on a NASP engine.
You'd need to follow a cam upgrade with other mods and finish with a performance chip to fully realise your gains. Don't forget to pay attention to the fuelling when you are increasing the power - it makes the car more thirsty.
Using higher octane petrol is another option if you find you are suffering from detonation or premature ignition on your SMART project after fitting other performance kits.
Larger injectors will enable you to supply sufficient fuel to the engine. A fuel pump will only deliver a finite amount of fuel, so you may need to uprate this if your injectors are demanding more fuel.
Now we move on to the intake and exhaust and ensure proper flow through the engine. For most Roadster engines TorqueCars would suggest you just go with a washable panel air filter.
On heavily tuned engines and turbo vehicles an induction kit will help release the power providing you address the problem of needing cold air. Do not go with the widest exhaust you can buy this will reduce the exhaust flow rate - the best exhausts for power gains are usually between 1 to 1.
It is the shape and material more than the bore size.

Airflow through the head can be dramatically increased with some professional head porting and polishing. These should match and be setup to take into account any other engine mods.
Fit a sports clutch to avoid power leak through the transmission.Remember Me? What's New? Last Jump to page: Results 1 to 10 of Thread: Roadster tuning. Roadster tuning My Roadster has a standard engine with a Fudgesmart remap. I love the power of it but I would like to improve the performance particularly at low revs especially when it pulls away from a standstill. I'm keen on dump valves as I understand they're beneficial for turbocharged engines, I also love the sound they make.
Has anyone here got a dump valve on their Roadster engine and was it worth fitting? I've also heard they can make a bit of a mess? An aftermarket exhaust is a must, I love the 'throatiness' of a decent exhaust but I want one that will improve the performance throughout the rev range. If anyone could recommend some good options I'd appreciate it.
I also don't want an exhaust that's too noisy that it will deafen me or require ear plugs when driving long distances. And what other parts should I consider to improve the overall performance? SMART ROADSTER ENGINE REBUILD KITS
Thanks for your thoughts, but surely there must be a way to improve acceleration from a standstill to some extent before the turbo kicks in?
You could fit a larger engine and a manual 'box. But if it has to have 4 wheels, make it the best in the world at what it does. Think you can drive?
Prove it. Then learn to tell the difference between handling and grip. Having a Smart is only the beginning. Why not join in with the community? What are you doing?
Can you guess the member? Know of any new music? Share your 5 thoughts? Got a good joke to share? Can you describe the person above? Not thought of that! There's at least 2 really good conversions availiable that sort the weight balance, build quality and power issues that the Roadie suffers What would they be then?
Don't say 'buy a Brabus' I get in trouble for mentioning other cars, so I really couldn't say!
Fed up of Smarts then? It's great that you managed to get a roadster! I love my dump valve but it's benefits are mainly improving the life of the turbo and helping to get back boosting again straight after a gearchange. It won't help you leave from a standstill, although I would recommend one as they're a lot of fun.
